AIG’s Lucy Fato to Be Honored
New York, NY (May 23, 2023) – The Spencer Educational Foundation, which supports the next generation of risk management and insurance leaders, will hold its Funding Their Future Gala on Thursday, Sept. 14, in New York City at Cipriani 42nd Street.
This year’s Spencer Gala will honor Lucy Fato, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Global Head of Communications of American International Group (AIG) for her outstanding achievements and leadership in risk management and insurance, as well as her commitment to the future of the industry.
Ms. Fato joined AIG in 2017 and currently oversees AIG's Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs groups and is the Global Head of Communications. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Corebridge Financial, Inc.

Since 2009, Spencer’s Gala has brought together hundreds of risk management and insurance industry leaders to honor executives and their companies for their contributions to industry education. The Foundation aims to raise over $1.5 million to support scholarships, grants, and industry-focused experiential learning and educational programming.

In 2022, the Spencer Educational Foundation awarded $1.5 million, providing 99 scholarships, 33 grants, and 36 internships. Since Spencer’s founding 43 years ago, the Foundation has provided nearly $9 million in scholarships and more than $8 million in grants that have directly impacted the availability of risk management and insurance education and the quality of talent entering Risk Management and Insurance professions.

About Lucy Fato:
Ms. Fato oversees AIG's Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs groups and is the Global Head of Communications. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Corebridge Financial, Inc. Prior to joining AIG, Ms. Fato was Managing Director, Head of the Americas & General Counsel of Nardello & Co., a global private investigative firm, where she remains on the Advisory Board. Previously, Ms. Fato was Executive Vice President & General Counsel of S&P Global. Prior to that, Ms. Fato was Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Marsh McLennan. Ms. Fato began her legal career at the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell where she spent fourteen years, including five as a partner in the capital markets group.
