  • 2025 Application Deadline: October 15, 2024

  • Internship Grant awardees (Risk Managers) are typically notified at the beginning of December.

Description:

  • Through the internship program, students learn about the field in a real-world business setting where they can quickly apply what they know, respond to new experiences, and begin to develop contacts in the industry.

  • THIS GRANT IS GIVEN TO EMPLOYERS ONLY. Students interested in internships with a Spencer grant-funded company or organization should contact the companies directly. A list of companies receiving internship grants is posted on our website and social media channels.

EMPLOYER CRITERIA:

Eligible Employer applicants must meet and agree to the following criteria to receive grant funding:

  1. Applicants must be practicing risk managers.

  2. The internship position must be within the risk management function of the organization and must be centered around meaningful projects or responsibilities in risk management.

  3. Administrative tasks should comprise no more than 25% of the intern’s time.

  4. Internships should be a minimum of 8 weeks in duration.

  5. Grant recipients must confirm the selection of an intern within 90 days of notification of approval or forfeit the grant.

  6. The Spencer Educational Foundation will assist in locating an intern only if you have exhausted the search process without any results.

  7. Once you are selected as a Spencer Internship Grant recipient, a copy of the intern’s transcript (official or unofficial) and resume must be sent to Spencer to receive the grant funding.

  8. The entirety of the Internship grant funds MUST be applied to the intern's experience. Any remaining funds not used towards the intern's salary must be creatively applied towards beneficial professional/learning experiences. Past examples have included attendance at a local conference/event, support of a student to take a course towards a professional designation, etc. You will be asked to supply a final budget at the culmination of the internship, and a partial refund will be requested if the grant was not spent entirely on the internship experience.

  9. If your proposal is selected, grant recipients must agree to submit a final report after the internship has ended. Interns will also be required to submit a final survey at the completion of their internship.
