Foundation announces new chairperson, elects new officers

Spencer announced that its board has elected new officers as follows:

·         Chairperson: Marya J. Propis, SVP – Director of Distribution and Broker Partnerships for All Risks, Ltd.

·         President: Robin Joines, SVP of Risk Management for Sedgwick

·         Vice President: Peter Heard, Vice President of National Distribution for Travelers

·         Treasurer: Matthew Schneider, Global COO, M&A Transaction Solutions for Aon

·         Secretary: Teresa M. Black, EVP of Commercial Surety, Chubb

“It is an honor to be leading this prestigious Foundation as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. I look forward to working with the board, our stakeholders and program recipients, and continuing to promote the Foundation and expand its impact on the industry,” said Ms. Propis. “It’s a pleasure to succeed such a talented chairperson, and I want to thank and acknowledge the great contributions made by our outgoing chair, Zakia Phillips.”

Ms. Propis joined the Spencer board in 2013, and has served as Secretary, Vice President, and, most recently, President. She was the Foundation’s Gala Dinner Chair from 2016 to 2018. Professionally, she joined All Risks, Ltd.’s management team in 2018 and is responsible for defining and driving distribution priorities for the nation’s largest independent wholesale insurance broker. Ms. Propis worked previously at AIG and Lexington Insurance in successive leadership roles from March 2005 to December 2017, serving as Head of Broker Engagement for AIG's U.S. Commercial group.  She also worked at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Scott Danahy Naylon Agencies, and Propis Agency Inc. Ms. Propis  has been recognized by New York Business Journal (“Woman of Influence”), IBA (“Hot 100”  and “Elite Women” lists). She also was selected as IICF’s Global Inclusion Champion for her contributions to the advancement of talent and diversity in the workplace. She earned a B.A. from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, and serves on the college’s Board of Trustees.  She also serves on the Board of Disabled Sports USA and on the industry advisory council for Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
