The Foundation awards a variety of grants to support industry education.
Spencer/RIMS Risk Management Challenge
In 2017 28 schools put their knowledge to the test on a complex risk-management problem at the RIMS Conference in Philadelphia and competed for cash prizes. The event helps to elevate the visibility of the study of risk management and insurance. For more information about the 2018 contest, please contact Josh Lamangan (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Gamma Iota Sigma
The student organization promotes, encourages, and sustains student interest in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science as professions. Spencer supported its Annual International Conference.
Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program
The Foundation awarded a $40,000 grant to RIMS in support of this program, which has been in existence since 1978. In 2017, Spencer’s grant allowed 30 students to attend the RIMS Annual Conference in Denver.
RIMS Risk Management Curriculum Development Grant
In 2013, RIMS designated awards of grants to universities that do not currently have a risk-management curriculum to develop either a module or a class. The first grant was awarded in April 2014. The final grant was given in 2017.
